General comments
Behandeling bestaat uit chloroquine gedurende 2 dagen gevolgd door chloroquine in profylactische dosering eenmalig.
Recidieven kunnen optreden, vooral indien de profylaxe niet wordt gecontinueerd.
De diagnostiek en behandeling van malaria dient altijd in overleg met de consulent kinderinfectieziekten/microbioloog/parasitoloog plaats te vinden.
Indien chloroquine (of hydroxychloroquine) niet beschikbaar is, dan kan worden behandeld conform het advies bij Malaria tropica.
Malaria is een meldingsplichtige ziekte Categorie C
